£5m Up for Grabs in Metadata Research Competition
Are you working with Metadata? Want to get a share of £5m for research and development? Then get yourself along to one of three events covering the Technology Strategy Board's (TSB) new £5m competition, Metadata: Increasing Value in Digital Content Collaborative R&D Competition.
The competition, launched on the 1st June, provides match-funding for projects which address three opportunities to build revenue streams with more efficient and innovative use of metadata.
These tensions revolve around three core areas: interoperability of different sets of metadata, improving the search and discovery of metadata to help generate revenue and improving the linkage between metadata and the original content.
The Partnering for Innovation 2010 Metadata events take on a Metadata flavour from 1st July with events taking place in London, Birmingham and Cambridge. These events will provide a detailed insight into the Technology Strategy Board's £5m Collaborative Metadata R&D competition, with a chance for one-to-one sessions and the Collaboration Café.
Joining the event line-up are two brilliant speakers bringing their experience and insight of metadata in their organisations and the opportunities provided by this competition.
In Birmingham, John Sheridan, Head of e-Services at the Office of Public Sector Information, part of The National Archives joins the event to deliver the keynote presentation.
Chris Thorpe from Jaggeree joins the London event to talk about metadata and his experiences at MySpace, The Guardian and beyond.
The events are filling up quickly, but there's still a chance to grab a space:
