Silicon Milkroundabout: London's Tech Start-ups Join Together To Drive Recruitment

London's Tech Start-ups have banded together to better compete against big banks and huge recruiting budgets.

Job opportunities for computer science graduates and experienced software developers looking for their next career move, should not be limited to corporate banks or consultancies anymore, London's tech start-up community say.

The Silicon Milkroundabout event will try to stop the brain-drain of skilled software developers to big corporations by highlighting the opportunities and benefits of working for innovative, entrepreneurial businesses.

“Britain is getting its entrepreneurial mojo back – just look at all the great tech companies that have come out of London in the past few years" said Ian Hogarth, CEO and co-founder of Songkick and one of the key organisers of the recruiting event.

“Our greatest barrier to recruitment is that technical graduates - and many experienced software developers already working in large companies - aren’t even aware of London's tech start-ups as an alternative to the more traditional routes of working for a bank, a consultancy, or for Google or Microsoft.

By banding together for Silicon Milkroundabout, we can get the message out there that our growth is leading to the creation of new jobs, and by working for a start-up you can directly help create something big.”

Silicon Milkroundabout (Sunday 15th May 2011 in London's East End) will see 30 of London’s most respected tech start-ups offer a total of 100 jobs, from graduate through to senior-level developer positions.
