Unethical Social Web
Event Info
Description
We delve in to the darker side of the social web with an evening at the RSA, London 15th September, from 6.00pm - with a series of talks from the world of journalism, law and advertising.
Social technologies are revolutionising real-time connections, stimulating the emergence of new social architecture, and redefining how individuals relate to organisations as well as to each other.
Whilst the positive effects of this continual shift are being felt every day, from the role of social media in human relations to their impact on democracy, there are visible signs of a darker side to social media. There is now an unprecedented range of channels through which businesses, organisations, governments and individuals can manipulate our access to information.
The evening is presented by media140 and Redfront as part of a crowd sourced project to identify and define the various means of unethical intervention that can be used to influence everything from consumers to voters.
