Speakers

Guy Phillipson - CEO, Internet Advertising Bureau
Guy Phillipson took over as CEO of Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) in January 2005. Following his 100 day review, the IAB was repositioned as a valuable resource for marketers to help them make the most of all online advertising disciplines, including search, display, e-commerce and sponsorships. In March, Revolution magazine named Guy Phillipson as Digital Business person of the year.   Before the IAB, Guy was Head of Advertising at Vodafone UK.

Nikki Barton - Creative Director, CIMEX
Nikki Barton is the Creative Director responsible for the ground breaking design of Internet Explorer 5 for the Mac, the Tate website and Malcolm McLaren's Casino of Authenticity & Karaoke art installation. She is regarded as one of the UK's leading experience designers in digital media and has over 18 years experience across a wide range of platforms worldwide. In 1989 she was involved in some of the first interactive projects in the country and with colleagues began to develop the early visual language of 'Multimedia'. In 1997 she founded digital agency Nykris, which won many awards for its creative excellence and technological expertise. In 2007 she is (amongst other things) working on a social, open, web environment and is still excited by digital media.

Jon Bains - Co-Founder, Lateral
Jon began his career as a university dropout and founder/editor/designer of Convulsion magazine in Edinburgh, grudgingly moving to London in 1994 to launch pioneering music portal IUMA Europe (internet underground music database – a forerunner to Mp3.com & iTunes). While preaching the internet he was approached by Radio 1 to work on their first interactive outing – which provided seed funding to found Obsolete, one of the UK's first web agencies. In 1997 Jon co-founded Lateral with Simon Crab and David Jones. In 2000 he co-founded the über-tech elite LShift. Instrumental in planning numerous award winning online campaigns and programmes for brands such as Stella Artois, Granada, Five, Sega, Nintendo, Pathé, RSPCA, Cadillac, EMI and more, his signature work has been seen for over a decade on Levi’s® from the infamous Flat-Eric & Error page campaigns to the recent integrated community engagement program Antidote – winning more than a dozen awards in the process.

Andy Hobsbawm - European Chairman, Agency.com & Co-Founder, Green Thing
Andy Hobsbawm established the first international Internet agency in 1994 and was a founding director of leading British new media company Online Magic which merged with Agency.com in 1997. As European Chairman of Agency.com, Andy helps guide and is a spokesperson for the firm with his unique insight into the continual evolution of the interactive medium. Andy recently co-founded Green Thing with one of the UK’s most respected creative directors Naresh Ramchandani. A new community that makes it easy and enjoyable to be green, it combines marketing psychology, world-class creativity and the self-fuelling energy of online social networks. He is currently writing 'Small is the Next Big Thing', which attempts to make sense of accelerating change in an interactive world and will be published by Atlantic Books Ltd in 2009.

Pete Robins - Co-Founder, Agenda21
Pete was grabbed from the world of traditional media planning and buying by the golden glow of digital media way back in 1996, and has been ploughing his digital trade ever since. His windy but enthusiastic and purposeful path has taken him via Modem Media, to his own agency media21 in1999, to co-running MediaCom’s digital division for 4 years, having sold media21 to Grey Global Group. He was listed 3rd in Campaign’s ‘Online Pioneers’ top 10 and 2nd in the Media Planners Top 10. Other than that he’s a bit short, loves a good film, likes fish and chips, owns a weird beard and is a bit odd as he passionately competes at triathlons. He was last seen pedalling away into the distance on one of his bikes across the Surrey hills!
