Mobile Monday Shoreditch Presents 'Mobile technology: art or science?'
Event Info
Description
It’s easy to dismiss mobile technology as, well, just technology, a science, something for the geeks and mathematicians, for hackers and nerds. We caress our slabs of steel and glass daily, gently stroking them to chat to our friends, watch a video or play a game, to share a picture, slag off a reality TV programme and whinge about poor customer service. But is there more to it than that? Is this the ultimate tool for the creative industries to showcase their talents? Does creative make the difference to a mobile advertising campaign’s success? Is it all about clicks and page views and search engine optimisation tricks or can we engender emotion via this tiny device that has become so central to our digital being?
What is creativity in mobile in the first place? How do brands and services use creativity in thinking, in execution, in design to influence the way people interact with their mobile devices? How are artists using the mobile device in their work and what can we learn from that in the world of business? Can you learn to be creative with mobile technology or is it instinctual? What are the barriers to being more creative with mobile technology both personally and professionally and how do we counteract that? Is mobile marketing or app building an art or a science?

We’ll be discussing these questions and more this month with a panel of
artists, technologists, marketers and more. The session will be
moderated by Helen Keegan of Heroes of the Mobile Fringe and Swedish Beers
fame. We also want to showcase some of the most creative mobile service
examples you’ve seen. So please get in touch with us with your
suggestions via momoshoreditchgmail [dot] com (email). We have two huge screens to showcase mobile apps and sites in the networking area.
