Description

The driving force behind a web and tech business is often not a programmer, or software engineer. But s/he needs to make choices that are difficult for one with little technical know-how, ranging from what programming framework to use – is it Ruby, Joomla, Drupal, or PhP – to deciding what programmer to hire and how to keep them on target, and how to move from idea stage to a spec that can be implemented within budget and on time.

Topics covered will include how to best plan to move idea into specifications and to a fully functional website that could be implemented within budget or time, as well as ways to solve issues such as deciding who to hire for your website’s programming and/or design.

The workshop will cover different management methods such as ‘agile software management’ and what processes to use to arrive at a web development plan that translates business goals into achievable and workable web implementation.

Our speakers are:  Gavin Bell, author of Social Web Applications for O’Reilly and Jay Bregman, CTO and co-founder of eCourier.

More details on the whole series can be found here.

Topics covered will include:

∟      Learn the essentials of website planning and architecture.

∟      Reviewing your choices amongst common CMS programs and web development frameworks (Drupal, PhP, etc)

∟      How to set targets for web developments

∟      How to ensure quality control
