Description

Introduction

We have assembled a panel of experts on cloud computing from SaaS to IaaS to enlighten you with how organisations can achieve significant operational efficiencies and cost reductions through maximising the use of Internet, both in terms of infrastructure, platform and applications to manage day-to-day operations.

- Tim Barker - Having sold his own early stage technology company to salesforce.com, he now leads their product marketing in EMEA.
- John Lunn - Many of us have used or integrated paypal into our products, yet we know very little about their platform capability. Now is the chance to be enlightened by their chief wizzard
- Gary Turner - A man truly converted from on-premise software to SaaS, now leading the beautifully design Xero, an accounting application targeted at small businesses.

What is Cloud Computing all about?

Cloud computing is a major disruptive and transformational technology driving a major shift in computing by four major categories of vendors: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or applications (Salesforce.com, xero.com, edocr.com), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) (Force.com, Microsoft Azure, NetSuite-Suiteflex, Google App Exchange), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) (Amazon, IBM, EMC, Google, Microsoft) and enablers (VMware, Adobe, Sun, HP).

"You can scale your infrastructure on demand within minutes or even seconds, instead of days or weeks, thereby avoiding under-utilization (idle servers) and over-utilization (blue screen) of in-house resources. With monitoring and increasing automation of resource provisioning we might one day wake up in a world where we don’t have to care about scaling our Web applications because they can do it alone."
