I confess I drive an Aeron myself - though these days it's more for show

than to

prevent RSI and arse fatigue.  It's definitely the best I've tried (3"

lateral

scoliosis and 3 herniated discs - I should know!). There was also an article

in

the last 'Wired' which featured a new competitor for the Aeron that looked

dead

fab.


In a former incarnation, when I used to spend late nights staring at a

'Paintbox', I experimented with one of those wierd, bentwood 'yogic flyer'

jobs

from the Back shop. You know the kind of thing - no back, sharply sloping

squab

and little shin cushions where your legs tuck under. You sort of perch on it

and

it rocks back and forth. That was truly fab - though I confess it made one

look

like some kind of desperate, yoghourt weaving, meusli knitting fucking

wholemeal

tree hugger. My back felt great but I couldn't help feeling 'Would Neo have

sat

on one of these'?


My Pilate instructor has tried to persuade me to try a ball chair (also from

the

Back Shop on Wigmore St) which is basically a 3' diameter inflatable ball on

a

tripod stand. Again it relies on perching and regular rocking movement.

Cool.

But the last time I had something like that I was 8, it was orange with

horns

and I was belting it around a council estate just outside Bristol.


A colleague of mine wins all the awards for cool seating, though. He has a

low

Japanese style table and kind of kneely-squats in front of it like the

ascetic

techno Zensai he truly is.


As for me, I'm going to chuck all seating arrangements, pick up a set of

Sony

Eyephones, stack out on the sofa and punch deck.
