From: Jo Chipchase
Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 18:07:10 GMT

In response to the need for press and PR/new media people to make contact
and discuss pertinent industry issues, Paul Douglas and I are launching the
UKPress discussion list (please see press release below).

The list is aimed at anyone who works with the Net and/or mobile
communications. You can join free of charge via http://www.ukpress.org,
and will be able to unsubscribe at any time. The list is moderated by
Paul, who will keep a tight ship !

Hope to see some of you on there.

Regards,

Jo.

BEAT TARGETING STRESS WITH UKPRESS

Imagine if you knew what journalists wanted, as they wanted it, without
picking up the phone or looking at a forward features list. If your work
covers the Internet or mobile communications, keeping up-to-date with the
desires of journalists will soon be a reality, thanks to UKPress an e-mail
discussion forum for press and PR people.

Ideal for distributors and seekers of Internet news, UKPress provides a
central resource where PR people can post information, make contacts and
network with other practitioners and journalists. The ongoing discussion
will highlight current 'hot topics' and assist with the targeting of press
releases.

UKPress is the creation of Jo Chipchase of Can-U-Hack-It, a feature writer
with a PR background, and Paul Douglas, editor of Internet Investor. They
decided to set up UKPress after participating in other email discussion
forums and realising the potential for communication professionals.

Jo Chipchase commented: "Having worked on both sides of the fence, in PR
and journalism, I think it's important for professionals to discuss topics
of interest and keep abreast of each other's requirements. The intention
of UKPress is to make the life of PR people and journalists easier, while
encouraging stimulating discussion."

PR practitioners working with IT sector clients are eligible to join
UKPress via www.ukpress.org, free of charge, and will be able to
unsubscribe from the e-mail discussion list at any time. In line with
Internet etiquette ('Netiquette'), the list will be moderated to ensure
content remains on topic, and that commercial email ('spam') does not get
through to its members.

UKPress is sponsored by Virgin Mobile the UK's first virtual mobile
operator and the fifth UK network.
