BroadVision is all about relationship management, hence it's very strong
personalisation features. BroadVision doesn't rely on cookies but uses a
range of personalisation options, such as profile-based and session-based
targeting. These enable you to get the right information to the right
people, so they don't drown in a sea of irrelevant information.

BroadVision is not a content management package, although it does have
content management. If you do have a great deal of content, you can
integrate BroadVision with specialist content management packages like
Interwoven or MediaSurface, but the emphasis is still on personalisation and
dynamic delivery of this content.

Yes it is sold to Marketing and Business people rather than Technical staff,
because it's a powerful business tool and the business rules which drive
your site and the content you deliver should be determined by business
people. Java is not usually a driver of business strategy.

We have done 12 BroadVision implementations with more being worked on -
every one completely different to the last - yes - you need developers that
know the capabilities of the product and how to get the best out of it, but
isn't that the same with any development?

In our experience, if you can't see BroadVision sites delivering anything
different to those driven by any other technology, it's because many
customers use only a fraction of the product's capabilities - much of the
functionality is lying dormant ready for implementation at a later phase
once the customer organisational strategy has moved forward to cope with the
extra dimension that a BroadVision solution can deliver. Its not just a
technology it is a fundamental cultural philosophy.
