Exactly! It's sites like benefon.com <<below>> that annoy people with flash.
I had to stop looking at it after the second loading sequence came up. A lot
of good web design can be traced back to simple psychology...the first
impressions that we get of almost anything occur within the first 7 seconds.
After 7 seconds and still having nothing but a cute "Loading" message, I was
pretty annoyed. I didn't even know what the purpose of the site was...I just
left because I didn't care anymore. So it's not necessarily a good thing to
pile all the flash techniques and dHTML that you know into one page, it's a
matter of combining those elements into a stunning, yet still efficient,
presentation of your information. Web design doesn't (and usually shouldn't)
have to be complex to be innovative and enjoyable. Some of the best sites
out there are simple, yet unique and eye-catching enough to keep users
coming back. And if you're going to use a lot of flash animation, please
don't make half of it a cute "Loading" design...A good site that was done
with flash that keeps the user occupied (at least in my opinion) is
http://www.symbionts.com please do check it out :)

Yes, the only companies that actually constantly need flash anims are
webdesign companies. Other companies can also have it, but making
the information available to the user is supposed to be the main target.
An example of such a webpage is for instance
http://www.benefon.com/ I took 10 times longer to find the product
information I was looking for, as compared to if it where a normal
webpage.

Noel
