Subject: Re: FLASH: MM Please Respond: Flash 4 Developers' Future to beCrippled by AOL/Netscape NEGLECT? (Netscape/FlashPlugin *ongoing*SNAFU'S) [was: RE: FLASH: OT: Macromedia upgrades . . for Troy]

At 18.17 -0400 2000.04.07, I "innocently wondered", aloud:

At 16.34 -0700 2000.04.07, John Dowdell reached
WWWWAAAAYYYY----BBBBAAAACCCCKKKK into his hindmost pocket, and found
his last remaining shred of control over any possible/hypothetical
proclivities toward verbosity, and (m)uttered:

>Deny.

At 16.53 +0100 2000.04.07 [ -- ????!!!! -- ], Neal Cabage somehow
jumped into the PAST, BEYOND the point at which I'd sent my original
post [Neal, please fix your calendar/clock/timezone!], and, from that
point in the DISTANT PAST, prophesied his response to a response
(from JD) to a post that I hadn't yet even written (!), thusly:

>Toward Flash developers specifically? I would say that AOL has been this
>way with their general standards belligerence since day 1!!!

Why shouldn't they be, toward anyone other than MS?

*$$* rules in CorporateThinkLand.

>Now that they own and are "improving" Netscape,

If I'm engaged in "improving my looks", with regard to the "next
'target'/'woman'-out-there", you can bet I might go for hitting that
proverbial home run, no matter HOW I may need to tweak my
presentation.

I *can* be a SLUT FOR $$, too ...

It's all about whatever-turns-one-on; out there in
CorporateThinkLand, seems to me, it's about *$$ as #1*.

**THANKS** DSG!

I was gonna get to that, later in this post.

MM is no dummy (obviously). I'd never really expect ANY MM Rep, *even
JD*, to be *allowed* by MM to admit anything even close to
"inside-the-company *feeling*".

I was just probing for clues.

>Oh, which leads me to... Hey Macr, when is the flash browser coming out?

KS is happy that they *didn't* (*despite* the apparent feelings of
Dorian and Laura "to the contrary" :-) ); MM has its/their collective
hands *full*, already, with those of us, including me :-) , who use
anywhere from 1 to 4 to 5 to G-knows-how-many MM products!

Stock tip offa the top of my head: if ANY
CorporateEntityOrComboThereof ever realizes that there is a HHUUGGEE
market "OUT HERE" for a MERELY *ADEQUATE* browser, I believe that
"they" will make $1 Billion, easily.

[Have you read this meme *here*, from me, first?]

(Wouldn't YOU pay, say, $49.99 (FREE SHIPPING) for a *decent GD* browser?)

I'm placing my money on the Apple/EarthLink Alliance:

FIRST OF ALL, Apple *groks* Humans-and-Their-Brains ... just search
at google on "human interface" (no quotes) and see what I mean.

Plus, MindSpring, my former favorite, has merged with EarthLink.

Plus, EarthLink and Apple are apparently underway with a project to
make [to make a long story *too* short] Internet Access for NEWBIE
IMAC BUYERS *as mindless* an effort as the DREADED ALTERNATIVE of
plopping a GODDAM AOL "FREE" CD into one's CD drive, etc. etc.

2nd stock tip: ANY AOL stock owners should watch the progress of all
of those class action suits that are starting to happen to AOL.
You've only seen the tip of the iceberg; aol (lower case intentional)
THOUGHT that it could GET AWAY WITH *FLEECING* it's *customers*
ROYALLY ... putting damned invisible files on their hard drives, fer
C's Sakes ... I'M OUTRAGED!

--

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO USE AOL:

AREN'T *YOU* "OUTRAGED" AT THIS INTRUSION UPON YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY
(YOUR HD)? I'VE HEARD THAT THEY PUT *INVISIBLE" FILES ONTO YOUR HD TO
MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO YOU TO SIGN UP WITH MAJOR ISP
ALTERNATIVES TO AOL. -- ?

--

... THE HEIGHT OF ARROGANCE, AND THE HEIGHT OF STUPIDITY.

<begin legalese>

Of course, as always, these words that flow from my fingertips ARE
MERELY AND ONLY *EVER* INTENDED TO BE READ AS *MY OPINIONS* ... much
of what I write is fiction, as many of you know, and, as many *more*
of you probably suspect.

<terminate legalese>

--

To MM: nice job, overall, with the customer contact. THAT is why I am
with YOU, and not with Adobe.

THANKS for that, R.; VERY GREAT post IMO. Please keep typing!

[EVERYTHING that I type *within brackets* is my way of specifically
and directly addressing my reader, YOU. Please take note of this.
This way of doing things happens to be a "netiquette" thing that is
currently under review. YMMV,AA.]
