Hi Helen,


If you import audio that was sampled at 8kHz, Flash will interpret it at a 

5kHz sampling rate, playing back the samples at a proportionately lower 

frequency. This will drop the sound nearly an octave (an octave is actually 

a 50% drop in frequency) and slow it down proportionately. It will also 

play proportionately longer. So unless you want that weird effect, you 

might as well downsample the original sound to 5kHz and then import it.
