There are a lot of approaches to audio compression - The first standard
method is to use dynamic compression - not data compression, to increase
signal to noise ratio.
I wonder if it's a really good idea to whack somethng down to 8 bit though
before Flash takes it down to 5, 4 or whatever lowly bits are left.
Theoretically, if you have more bits to throw away during the final
compression, you will get fewer noticeable artifacts. Cutting to 8 bit and
then compressing again in Flash is going to give you more garbage in, and
hence more garbage out. At least it seems that it would.
SF is a great tool - I want to know some of your tricks!
