I'd say the word "reassuringly" is not quite applicable here.


The personalisation stuff *does* now work, making BV, bizarrely for me and

given my previous experience of it, not something I'd dismiss out of hand.


However - and this is a big however - the learning curve in conceptual

terms for the *client* is huge and you're basically looking here at a

partnership towards the end of the build where they have to actively work

as hard as you are in terms of working out the personalisation "rules" etc.

If they seem to think that you'll just "deliver" then, as Donnie Brasco

would say: fergedaboudit.


If the client believes in all this Stella Artois-esque "you don't get

something for free" then, it's their own lookout, innit.


The *next* version of BV, btw according to their salespeople, will be fully

java-object compliant. Now *that* I find interesting. I reckon,

java-compliant version 1.2 might be worth waiting for - if the whole thing

hasn't been completely outmoded and made cheaper by better products and

more in-house building (er, doing the same functionality for about a third

of the price).
