Nonsense. That's tantamount to saying that leaving the room to make a cup

of tea during a TV commercial break is cheating ITV out of the "implicit

contract that makes, and keeps, quality (?) content available for free."


If ads become annoying or intrusive people will seek to block them in some

way. Perhaps the solution is, instead, to create advertising that people

_want_ to view because it involves/educates/entertains them. And to

consider other marketing efforts as well - product placement, opt-in

mailing lists, sponsorhip - the sort of things that software would find

much harder to block and people would be much happier to receive.


I think that most dial-up users already feel they are paying for their Web

access with the cost of their calls, whether or not they are "cheating" the

providers of the content.
