WebWasher has been around for a while, though it's now gone freeware for
private users. We covermounted it recently (stop booing out there) and got
a good response from readers. People have been impressed with the way it
works, although the set-up has confused a lot of people (local proxy
servers, etc.).
It's not the fact that it removes ad banners that people go for,
necessarily. It's that it can speed up browsing by cutting out unecessary
downloads.
