I'm just curious, has any NT/98 user ever managed to get more than two
monitors working? The most I've personally configured on a Mac is seven,
which isn't any harder than five (my work machine), or three (my home
machine), other than the extra time it takes to ColorSync each monitor.
Is NT/98 limited to two? Three? No limit? I would want to believe that if
three monitors could work on NT, and you could designate the center
monitor as 'Main', then dialog boxes in dumb applications wouldn't get
split across two screens, instead centering on the middle screen.
Multiple monitors is crucial, at least in our shop, to working
productively in Flash, et al. When my people telecommute, and are stuck
at home with just one monitor, they gripe to no end about how much longer
it takes to assemble even a simple movie. For many of our crew, we have
calculated savings for the compnay to go ahead and provide twin and
triple monitors for home machines, seeing that the cost is quickly
returned in productivity.
The above opinion/experience might be of some use for those who have to
beg for hardware.

I was extrememly dissappointed recently when I picked up RailRoad Tycoon
II, a game previously Mac-only, which could be spread across as many
monitors as you owned (very handy when running an international
railroad). Now, it being a Mac-port of a Wintel game, the bloody thing is
confined to one monitor. Very stupid, and unneccessary. I find it
frustrating, and unplayable, even on my 20" monitor, not only because it
is constrained, but because the game controls consume at least 35% of the
screen, leaving little useable left for the map.
I wish program creators/designers/programmers, games and tools alike,
would all work with at least three monitors and see just how much
advantage they overlook while constraining the useability to just one
screen.
