FLASH: variables in elements other than text boxes?

The recent conversations on the forum about possibilities for dynamic data 

in Flash have been really helpful--thanks to Nigel, John, Phillip and others 

who have offered their advice.


It looks like Generator is really the way to go for that in the long term. 

But in the meantime, just within Flash 4, is it possible to load variables 

from a text file into elements other than text boxes --i.e., into the text 

that comprises a graphic or symbol?  I haven't had any luck with this so 

far. I won't be able to set up a server for Generator for a little while, 

and was hoping to be able to do some basic things before then.
