It would seem you have plenty of processing power, although I'm not very
Mac-experienced. Of course the display size will affect smoothness,
because it determines how many pixels must be redrawn. I encourage you to
experiment with my earlier suggestions. Also, I'm not sure, but it might be
faster to reveal the blue rectangle using a mask than to expand it.
