FLASH: Wrong Instances

Occasionally I've had problems with the wrong instance appearing on stage -

it doesn't match the symbol. For instance: I drag Symbol #1 from the library

to the stage, and an instance of symbol #1 appears. So far so good. Then, I

drag Symbol #2 from the library to the stage, and another instance of symbol

#1 appears. Same with symbols #3, #4, and so on until I quit and restart my

computer. I've had this happen on both a Mac and a PC. Any ideas?
