Feature.
The symbol as defined in the library will have one of three behavior types:
1) Graphic
2) Button
3) Movie Clip
You can have multiple instances of a symbol on stage, with each instance having a different behavior. This can make it very easy to have a button in one portion of the movie, and have the up state of that button behave like a graphic in another portion of the movie (so the button image is still there, but the button itself is inactive).
The default behavior is that defined in the library (normally defined when you created the symbol). You can change that default behavior in the library and it will not affect instances of the symbol which already exist on the stage in your movie.
