Hi Arsis,
The free 41KB scr file downloadable at http://www.dgolds.com/AnySaver.html
will run any exe file as a screensaver, provided that the location of your
exe doesn't exceed 38 characters.
The way I've figured it out, you can rename the "AnySaver.scr" to whatever
name makes more sense, it will still remember the location of whatever exe
file you want to run. Then, to facilitate end-user ease of use, I suppose
you could package the exe and scr files in a self-extracting zip archive
(cab file)
which installs the exe in the root directory (C:) and installs the scr file
into the Windows (95) or WINNT (NT) directory. All the user then has to do
is go to their screensaver properties and select the name of the
screensaver.
Theory is a wonderful thing, in practice this could prove more difficult!
The only disadvantage is that the user has to move the mouse, or can only
use one keyboard key to quit the application. I use the space bar. I don't
know if it's legal to distribute these screensavers, or to change the
filename...
And what about Mac users?
Anyway, thanks for your help!
Clyde
