Subject: FLASH: ot: help build a dream machine

sorry for the ot but i thought it might be something that others may have the same question on. my machine is slipping into the grave and i need to figure out a replacement. i flirted with the idea of a mac for a few minutes (honest) but don't think it will be practical since all of my customers are on a pc and so is all of my software.

questions:
i'm thinking micron, dell or gateway
assuming a second tier machine (533 or higher) with more ram or a screamer with perhaps less. which would be recommended?
i'd like to go with two cards and two monitors (or three) i have a 19 and a 17 already. any cards anyone would recommend? i'm looking at voodoo, ati or viper so far. do they have to be matched cards or just compatible? i can't seem to get anyone with an answer here. agp or pci? any recommendations on setup.
understand soundblaster live is nice. anyone got any views on others? aureal?

anything else you'd do differently or your planning?

mac fans are welcome to try to sell me on their platform. i really don't have a problem conceptually but think it would be tough to cost justify. (direct to me probably best to avoid massive postings)

if anyone willing would like to respond to me directly, i'll be happy to post the conclusions so that we can save the ot postings.
