FLASH: Trace a bitmap?

Hello All,


    I've heard several people mentioning the term "trace a bitmap image" in Flash, rather than just

using the bitmap file in Flash. Would this involve importing a .bmp file, then actually just 'painting

over' the layer? Did I just answer my own question? :-)  Personally, I have yet to play around with

importing other image types into Flash - still a newbie here.
