I totally agree... actually working with it demands
much more concentration and will produce results
much faster. There are so many things that are
better shown than described, and there are lots
of good, beginner-level tutorials/open FLAs out
there.
Just don't expect to write a VRML-parsing
3d-Engine on your first day. ;)
