If the core is "How can I see through the middle of a SWF?" then IE4+/Win32
supports this, if you set the "wmode" parameter... there's an example at
the frequently-cited:

(There's not actually a "make hole in middle" command... you'd just keep
the stage blank in the center and drop out the background color. Really
depends on whether the browser supports this ability, though. Framesets or
tables work in most browsers.)
