There is a performance issue, but I wouldn't call it serious.
Besides, what they enable you to do with video is quite wonderful for a
slight performance hit.

It's very new - and examples are just starting to surface.
Since really getting into QuickTime there are so many hidden features that
Apple really doesn't mention. If you have the oppotunity I suggest taking a
look at LiveStage Pro (totallyhip.com) - this tool really makes it easy to
take advantage of QuickTime.
