Hi Tracy,

>Boy-oh-boy do you have a flawed view of this subject. Lucky for us we don't
>have to rely on viewpoints and opinions because there is a law.

>Rather than guessing what you think it says, why don't you read it.

Because I am not a lawyer (don't you like me better already ;) ) and
therefore am not qualified to interpret law.

>The law is called "U.S. Copyright Act of 1976." Excerpts from this law:....

If you must quote and interpret law in public, instead of state your
opinion, then you should probably have a license. (No, this is not an
invitation for real lawyers to chime in ;) )

People living in the US often have a narrow view of the world.
But the world simply does not revolve around the US and its laws.
The internet is a worldwide system.

I think you'll find it rather difficult to enforce US law in other countries.

The idea that I can create a bouncing ball, put it on the net, and then
think I own the rights to bouncing balls all over the world may sound
leagally correct to your interpritation of "THE LAW", but it is obviously
uninforcible. Besides, most laws have built-in loopholes. Why don't you
quote the _entire_ document, and I'll see if I can find a few.

But, that's not the point. Again, it doesn't matter what my view on
copyrights, or right and wrong are.

My message is it's best to relax about it, because attempting to enforce
copyrights for flash animations is probably beyond the financial capability
of most people here. It's a battle that will never go away and would be
very expensive to fight, so in effect, US copyright law is useless to the
Flash artist.

If we took a vote, I don't think that results would show that we really
want a situation where everything created in Flash so far is off limits,
and from today forward, everything else created must be *entirely* new,
otherwise you face a lawsuit. I am not in favor of directly copying other
people's work, I'm just saying that trying to stop it is a waste of your
time, regardless of any "laws" you can wave around, so it's best just to
forget about it and get back to work.

It's all a grey area. Meaning not profitable to fight and you have little
assurance of winning. It's best to put the energy into new creation rather
into battling over what has already been done.

Pride makes lawyers rich.

Hey MM, I guess you need to remove all those "Why not play a game of Pong
while you wait" loading screens from ShockRave. ;)
