Subject: Re: FLASH: flash 5 problem

I hope my earlier reply answers your question. To clarify even further, I appreciate the job Dowdell (and his company) does, it's just the heavy-handedness of this recent post that frustrates me. We're all professionals here, and there is no reason to address customers with such thinly-veiled contempt and suspicion. I completely agree that Macromedia is entitled to and should fiercely protect their secrecy. What I take objection to is the knee-jerk reaction that anyone discussing the unreleased with more than wide-eyed curiousity gets viciously snarled at by our list's corporate presence. Anyway, that's enough about that. Sorry to have taken up so much energy with this.

James,

You're obviously a Flash developer, right? Why would you want JD to
chill. He's
working to make your authoring tool better. People that pirate
pre-release
software and release information about it do harm in many ways to the
entire
community.

If somebody illegally got a hold of one of your projects that wasn't
even
finished and started spreading rumors that you're a horrible developer
based on
that, you'd have to spend incredible amounts of time doing damage
control to
protect your reputation and your business, taking time away from
finishing that
project.

I'm sure MM wants new versions of software to be as solid and well-built
as
possible and to bring them to market in a timely manner -- we want
nothing
less. Mr. Dog is providing an obstacle to that end. JD's words may sound
severe, but it's a severe issue.
