It does depend on the neighbourhood, but if you
have a good neighbourhood (ie not a lot of techies
on the block), you can blow DSL away with
cable's bandwidth. I once attached a small 3 node
LAN to my cable, and two of my friends and I
played quake online at the same time with super
low pings and no latency...and I've had download
speeds up to 220 kbps in the wee hours of the
morning.
