FLASH: Movie Clips

Happy Thursday!  Got a quick (I hope) question.  Being the programming 

giant that I am... I can't figure out how to keep movie clips that I 

place on the timeline of my main movie from looping...?  The main movie 

loop is set to false but when it stops, the individual clips keep 

going... why?  I have tried strategically placing "stop" commands 

everywhere and even some more advanced combinations of action scripts 

but they still keep going...  Any ideas
