I just think Netscape/AOL and MS are taking the piss!

I mean, you'd never get away with this anywhere else - If you had to have a
different TV to watch each individual station, because they were
broadcasting using different systems, then there would be huge public
outrage, yet on the net, they seem to be able to get away with it!

Why can't Netscape and MS both support exactly the same technologies?

I mean, MS Word and Corel Wordperfect are almost identical, yet they both
still have their own followings, so they can't say that if they were both
the same then they would lose any business.

I'm holding out for some company like Nullsoft (makers of Winamp) to wave
bye-bye to AOL, and write their own web-browser, that works with everything
around at the moment, is updated frequently to support new technologies,
actually works *with* the people like Macromedia to make new technologies
work in their browser, and doesn't hog 95% of the computers resources doing
almost nothing.
Is that too much to ask?

/me gets down off my soap-box now quietly, and runs away so as not to get
flamed.

Ben
