For browsers, if they support Netscape Plugins or ActiveX Controls, then
they'll support various versions of those. (In other words, all browsers
that support the Flash Player should support the Flash 4 Player.)

Not all browsers will tell JavaScript what version of a plugin they have.
There is an example of this, though, in the Flash technotes.

I'd recommend some of the other papers that come up for Flash 4 detection,
however... using a 4.0+ feature like variables, or a 4.02+ feature like the
"version" property, will work regardless of which browser is in use. Try
searching the Flash technotes with keyword "version".

(btw, please disregard the dates on these technotes... after being written
some had their formatting changed, which slightly changes the meaning, but
which also changed the dates.)
