Well you've hit an area of personal interest here....


No, as far as I know there is no "list" out there that tells you exactly

what VC is in your space and what amount of funding they are willing to do.

You have to go to each individual website (BVCA doesn't even have links to

all of them).  The big names are 3i, Apax, Atlas, Top Tech, Amadeus.  You've

got a bit of U.S. money already here from the likes of GeoCapital,

Crescendo, Cross Atlantic, GE Capital.  There are more, I know I've

forgotten some, but this is a start.  If you're looking for an incubator to

help get the ball rolling then try e-Start, Brainsparks, Ascendant, Bainlabs

(there are approx 30 of these types floating around).


All depends on what want to achieve w/ these people.  Money is out there.

But you want smart money, that'll help tremendously.


If anybody know where we might find the VC "list", pls do tell!  I'll even

pay for it.

Any suggestions on locating a list of Venture Capitalists specialising in

Internet startups? The BVCA Directory lists 112 members and breaks down

their preferred spheres of activity into such categories as Biotechnology,

Consumer related, Media and so on; Internet and e-commerce don't get

mentioned at all.


My own pet project involves converting a traditional export oriented art

dealer business into a completely e-commerce Internet business. Although it

is likely I will end up getting my funding from the States, I'd like to give

UK based VCs first refusal.


Any thoughts?
