Regarding the point that Geoff Innes made:

If free internet calls are offered, there are intermittent cut offs ensuring
that users do not leave their systems connected. The providers system will
respond to open lines that are inactive and cut them off after 15-30
minutes.

Another potential form of abuse is in using the offers to support a server.
BT have a built in 2 hour cut off, regardless of activity.

Rest assured the providers are aware of potential revenue threats and react
accordingly.
