"Web share trading clicks with investors", an article published in the
Telegraph, Dec 1999, said that Schwab was signing up 1,000 new clients a
week and that something like 100,000 people are dealing online. On 5
Feb, The Telegraph then published an article entitled Online share
trading "will soon be the norm" again quoting Charles Schwab Europe.
And I quote... :)
"The company's European marketing director, Guy Knight, reported new
clients joining its online service at the rate of 350 per week and some
100 million worth of share transactions during its first six months of
operation. The company, according to a survey by web intelligence
service Fletcher Research, was now emerging as the biggest e-commerce
venture in Britain - bigger than online business in computers, airline
tickets, books and music."
S'all on the Telegraph site if you need more info...
