I think approval for the new TLDs such as .web, .firm etc, was around late
1997 early 1998 and since then there have be been countless sites offering
to "pre-register" these new names. some of these sites were even charging
upwards of $50...I wonder how many pre-orders some got for something that
cannot be guaranteed.
