Hello,

1. Get a button symbol into your movie on its own layer. You must make sure
this layer has frames throughout the entire length of the movie, or your
button will disappear.
1a. Import a sound clip.
2. Make a movie symbol. We'll call this "The sound". It will contain the
background sound(s) you want to play.
3. In "The sound":
-- Double-click frame 1
-- Under "Actions" choose "Stop". This will stop the movie clip's progress
here at frame 1 after we start the sound. (in the next step).
-- Under "Sound" choose the sound clip you want and choose "Start" for Sync.

We have the sound started, now we need to allow for it to be stopped.

-- Add a keyframe in frame 2.
-- Under "Actions" choose "Stop".
-- Under "Sound" choose the sound clip you chose to Start earlier and
choose "Stop" for Sync.

We have the sound stopped, now we need to create a Loop back to the starter
frame (you'll see why in a minute.)

-- Add a keyframe in frame 3.
-- Under "Actions" choose "Goto and Stop" to frame 1

Now, go back out an edit your movie.

4. We're now editing the main timeline.
-- Drag an instance of "The Sound" movie clip out onto your main movie.
-- In the "properties" window of this instance, give this sound movie clip
a name. Here, I will call it "mySound".
-- This allows us to target the sound movie clip in our actions.

5. Double-click the button you have in your main timeline.
-- Under actions, choose "Tell Target".
-- You should be able to choose "mySound" from the target editor
automatically. If you cannot, something is probably wrong. It will show up
as "/mySound", because "/" means that the target is at the "root level" of
your movie and "mySound" is obviously the name of the movie.

6. After Tell Target, choose "Goto Next Frame".
-- You are now finished.

What happens when you run it:
-- The sound in the movie clip starts and then the movie clip hits a Stop
action to stay right there.
-- You hit the button and it goes to the Next frame in the movie clip,
which tells the sound to stop playing. The movie clip then Stops to hold
right there.
-- You hit the button again and it goes to the Next frame, which tells the
sound movie clip to go back to the Play frame again.

That should do it!

If you want a sample Doc of this little blurb just let me know and I'll
email it to you.

doubt very much or the tutorial is missing something or not clear enough.
Can someone point me to a better tutorial about creating an Start/Stop
Music button? Any help is appreciated.
