Subject: RE: FLASH: 3D objects, and shadowsThere are now available a series of plugins and programs that create 3D animations and export them as flash swf files. They are not fantastic at the moment but are a very useful tool in a designers toolbox. Illustrate is one which is a plug in for 3D Studio Max and then there is Vecta3D which comes as a plug in for 3d Studio Max or as a standalone program. I have used Illustrate and it is alright. I am waiting for the release of Vecta3D however to see if that is better. It does sound and look better but I have not tried it yet.-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: FLASH: 3D objects, and shadowsUsually 3D objects are created in another program and then imported into Flash and then traced frame by frame.
This has been the topic of many debate. Some have imported the .bmp files into Flash and use them however this will add to increased file size and often the images are distorted. There is a third party utility that will actually vectorize the 3D image so it importable. I am uncertain as to what that software is though.
I have been told that Flash 4 will actually import without loss to the image but I would image if you imported a series of .bmps that the swf will be rather large in size. Can someone validate the Flash 4 and image loss issue for me?
