Thanks for the reply, John.

I'm using Flash 4, and my usual format is gif files.  I can't really give

you a .swf file because I've abandoned all .fla's which have gif's.

I tried changing to bitmaps (.bmp) yesterday after reading about using them

instead of gifs.  Made no difference as far as I could see.


Never mind, I'll use Flash's impressive symbol creator
