Right. I'm pretty sure that this is on the top 10 of annoying
questions asked by newbies (along with skipping and preloading), but can someone
point to an "easy" tutorial for creating on/off buttons for sound. I've
downloaded many (list available on request), and have got to a point where
:
o the music is in a seperate .swf file
o also in this .swf file, I've 3 key frames, init, start and stop, where
the start keyframe holds a stop button, and the stop keyframe holds the start
button.
o in the main movie, I'm loading the .swf file in a keyframe where I want
the music to come in.
When I load my main movie, the music starts as normal -- everything's fine
-- but the button I placed does nothing. "Over" works - "Down"
doesn't. It doesn't mute the music and it doesn't change the button
picture.
I started comparing my .fla's to ones I'd downloaded, and the only
(probably crucial) difference I can find is that when I press on the button in
*their* music movie, control jumps to the stop keyframe from the start keyframe
and vice versa. I can see it happening!
Apologies for being long-winded, and if anyone wants the .fla files, er, I
guess I could mail them (over 20 megs for the music one!)
