FLASH: How to do a typing effect in flash??

Hello all!  I'm working on an interface with a 70s Sci-Fi feel, (ala

Ridley Scott's Blade Runner or Alien) 

and I'm trying to figure out a good way to do a letter by letter read

out effect in flash. 

Do I have to create a movie and animate the content letter by letter or

is there a better way.
