FLASH: OT- IE4.5 & IE4 freezing my MAC

as of late- IE has begun freezing my g3 for no apparent reason. i can't 

force quit- i end up having to force a restart. initially, it was ie4 and  i

reinstalled it and sure enough, back to freezing routine. so i downloaded

ie4.5 and it worked for a few days but now it has started frezzing my screen

too.  i  installed any new software except microsoft office for the= mac in

the last few days and am wondering if that could be? IE4 was crashing before

that.. reinstalling  IE (4 or 4.5) doesn't solve the problem. has anyone

encountered anything vaguely resembling this? does anyone have any

suggestions short of tossing microsoft products out the window?

(unfortunately, i had to get microsoft poffice cause i was getting too many

xxx.doc documents.....)
