Steve,
It is jerky because you're forcing the computer to rewrite many pixels
every frame, especially as the car gets larger. Less detail in the car will
help. Keeping the car smaller will help too, or limiting the size of the
whole movie in the browser window. Gradients are particularly demanding
when tweening. It's possible to get a little more speed by breaking down
the motion tween into a frame-by-frame animation (highlight all frames and
use Insert>Keyframe), or even by breaking the car apart (Ctrl-B on PC) so
it's no longer a symbol. This will require less computation by the playback
machine since all pixel information will be sent along with the movie. The
trade-off will be a much larger movie size (longer download time, less
likelihood of ininterrupted streaming) because you're no longer using
symbols and the Flash player's ability to interpolate pixels.
