FLASH: RE: making objects transparent

Hi:

Can anyone advise me on the procedure in Flash 3 for making an object

transparent. I want to import a CD file of

a tram. The tram is set against a white background and appears in a white

box on the Flash screen when it is imported. I can't figure out how to get

rid of the white background so that the tram can move against the

backgrounds I already have set up in Flash.
