Thanks, John, for your suggestion. I'll try the "play every frame" option and see if it helps.
I'm curious, though, why does this option even exist? I had assumed an exported movie would play every frame anyway. Why and what does it mean to have the option to switch that option on or off?
Also, in my original email, I had wondered what significance, if any, it matters for Quicktime export whether a flash project is set at 1 fps versus 10 fps (as long enough frames are added to accommodate the video length)?

In the Flash Publish Settings (or Export) dialog try checking the Play
every frame box.
