Generator can communicate directly with databases, Flash can not.
Flash can send data using GET or POST methods (Send Variables) with a
URL directed at a dynamic server side page such as ASP or Cold Fusion.
That page can then communicate with a database and receive data from the
database. It can then write to itself which Flash can listen for that
page write (Load Variables).

No Flash can not write to a text page, it can retrieve date from a text
page but is unable to write to a text file.
