"Rich media" is e-ad speak for what you're doing already... banner ads that
use Flash, or Java, or video, are all called "rich media" in that world.
Rich-media ads were controversial, but people accept them more now. Flash
seems to be the most accepted of the various technologies. Here are a few
links to check on the banner-ad perception of the world:
http://www.clickz.com/ (choose "Rich Media" from topic popup)
http://www.o-a.com/ (e-ad mail list, also links section)
http://www.narrative.com/ (long-term technology provider)
http://www.intervu.com/ (a leading practitioner)
Fast startup is critical. Total filesize is also important. I'm not sure
how practitioners handle IE/Mac browsers. Sometimes you'll need to transfer
data back to the server (attention time, etc).
