FWIW, I offered both bandwidth for the list itself , attachment
stripping, archive space, fast searchable archive engine, automated FAQ
creation, and much more, and all the credit could still go to Sam.

I can only assume that this is a passion for Sam, and that he needs to
see the list run right by his own hand, no matter how long that takes.

If you can't live without this list, I guess you just have to learn to
live with it. Use the Power of Macintosh to filter out the crap, the
duplicates, the too-oft repeated FAQs that just beg for an FAQ page so
newbies don't have to wait or struggle, the attachments, the unreadable
posts made by the intentionally illiterate (read: narcissistically cool)
posters, and create your own archive for internal purposes.

Sam built a great thing, a list so diverse that it offers far more than
any of its competitors, but it comes with the price of innefficient
annoyance. Can you afford to pay the price? Only you can decide.
